Sinister: Honest Lou's Pest Control
GUESS WHAT? I LIKE BELLE AND SEBASTIAN.(obvious header) Just throwing out praise for Electronic Renaissance cos it's one of my fave songs; B&S or not. So there. Plus while I'm being like that, TBWTASSLELOAFER is also in the same category but for albums. One of my faves whether B&S or not. I like the variety of songs the same way I like the 64 crayon box beter than the 8 crayon box; more colours more pretty stuff. And really, the yellow looks pretty next to the red, but looks super pretty between the red and the yellow-orange. Listened to FYHCYWALMARTISSATANKLAPDANCE all the way from Richmond VA to Philadelphia PA on repeat. I didn't realize it until I saw the sign that said welcome to Pennsylvania and I thought, hmmm same record as Welcome to maryland. 500 miles driven in one weekend. All I have to say, is it must be listened to on a rental car stereo (meaning new and good), with the volume turned way up way up past 11, going 80mph. As it is a rental car, it is new and thus soundproof, no engine noises, no whooshing of other cars, perfect climate control. Any sounds that are low in the mix, become like wispy clouds floating along with the puffy cloud sounds of the main sounds. Um, sorry 'bout these analogies, I only seem to throw out posts when I'm tired. They make perfect sense to me, if they do to you then that's way cool. I like all the songs on the new record. OK? But I occaisionally skip over the War one as I am waaaay squeamish. Yes, that squeamish. Plus the Chalet Lines, cos it's way too close to reality, not me thank god-close friends; the words really do come out like that. For rape and for in my experience, when you can't beleive what's happening. BTW, if there are any Cure fans here in the land of Sinister, let me tell you, the Philly show and the Baltimore shows rocked. If you're from the UK, read my next post, if you please. It may not come until tomorrow. It's not that big, but you should read it. Because. :). Love and Abundances of Citrus Fruits, Vilkas ----------

Hello again:
I would like to put my two cents in about Electronic Renaissance (since everybody else has). I, personally, love that song. I am a huge New Order/Pet Shop Boys/Kraftwerk (and proud of it) fan, and I think that B+S have made a first-rate techno song. I love the muffled quality of Stuart's voice and that oh-so 80's sounding drum beat. The fuzz quality is cool too. The only song on Tigermilk I can do without is "You're just a baby". It's okay, but nowhere near the rest of the album.
I think Stuart should publish a book of his short stories. I love the story in Tigermilk, it's strangely sweet and funny. But I guess so is everything Belle and Sebastian.
