Sinister: Looper Tonite, Good Vibrations, les Field Mices
Hi All, I hope all of you will be attending the Looper show tonight. I am quite excited, having not seen a good show for what seems like 2, possibly 3 weeks! Goodness. Not like in Ohio, where it's been...well over a year since I've seen an enjoyable live act. Anyway, if you'd like to say hi, I'm the boy who needs a haircut who is wearing a Moose shirt. Genevieve, I have to totally agree with your statement about Good Vibrations. In fact, there are times when I wish that they had just cut out the happy-happy chorus and simply left the bittersweet beginnings. Ah, luckily for me I brought the A-D part of my record collection to work today, so I can break out Smiley-Smile. At the moment I'm reading a book which is set both in 1963 and 1998. Anyway, the reason I pointed it out is that one of the characters is exasperated by the quality of the radio in 1963. I hope he doesn't end up in 1998. The poor thing would go insane. He likes folk music and he can't put up with songs such as Big Girls Don't Cry-ey-ey (they don't cry). Fitting? Probably not. Despite the fact that Barnesandnobles.com lists the Field Mice as one of Belle & Sebastian's influences, I really don't think it's true. I'd be the happiest person in the world if it were, mind you. I think that the two are similar of course. But the similarity lies in similar influences. Er, I've been playing around with the idea of starting a onelist about the Field Mice, so I don't feel I have to gush about them here. Anyone keen on the idea besides me?
