Sinister: The do's and dont's of amateur photography...
Hullos, In answer to Genevieve's post about what happens to naked pictures in photo shops, a friend of mine works at Black's photo shop ( here in Canada) and she's seen quite a few. The funny bit is that naked pictures get laughed at and stuff by the employees; the staff at her Black's is quite relentless and unsympathetic. It's kind of frightening really, because she's told me that employees have made doubles of certain pictures for their own amusement -- it might make you think twice about just how personal these photos are. However, here's where the trouble begins. Naked pictures, I believe, are not okay and either are pictures of, how can I put this, people having sex: they are considered pornography and cannot be reproduced as it goes against Canadian legislation ( or something to that effect). There was an incident that actually happened at Black's where someone managed to snap what Black's considers to be pornographic material -- a third party was suspected to have taken the photo or one of the parties involved had really good aim. Unfortunately the all too happy couple received only about half of the photos from the film. Black's could not reproduce the pictures. I think they just throw the negatives out and don't bother charging you. I guess the same might apply with full frontal shots and bottoms. But this leads me to question: if adult bottoms aren't allowed in photos, then why are baby bottoms? So in conclusion: buy yourself a Polaroid camera. But having a friend who works at Black's can also be quite useful. Free film developing, discounts galore and last month Veronica ( same as the girl in Expectations except she's not fat and is missing the lisp and work's at Black's) and I went crazy photocopying the B&S button pictures from the Select Magazine article so that we could make our own. We bought a button kit and everything and ended up using around $200 in photopaper. We've yet to get the chance to sport our rather expensive B&S buttons ( we made 8, sadly I lost one though at a concert. So if anyone found one by accident in the Opera House, its mine!!!) and get questioned about them. I hope we're not infringing upon some copyright law. Oh well, try and find me!!! I'll burn the proof before you get to me!! Okay that's enough. I'm off now. Take care everyone.
