Sinister: I've finally found my people
Good afternoon sinistericals... I've recently been released from the nursery, so I thought I give posting a whirl, even though I'm generally more inclined to lurkerdom. I had to let you know that I knew I had truly found my people when the bird attack thread appeared. People think I'm nuts because I'm afraid of swans, but when I was a kid my best friend's older sister kept all kinds of animals, including what seemed to me at the time to be swans, but which I think were actually geese (I was pretty little). This was in Juneau, Alaska, of all places. Anyway, these stupid birds would chase me around the yard every time they saw me, wings spread wide and hissing, baring their teeth at me. And, to this day, whenever I get too near a swan, it'll do the same thing, unprovoked. I'm also afraid of koi, but that's an entirely different story. Last night my boyfriend was going through all his old cassette tapes, and he put in something that sounded like a distant, older cousin of B&S. Anyone on the list ever heard of the Drop Nineteens? I hadn't before last night. Just wondering if you had any opinions on the subject. Ok, thanks for your time...back to lurker land. Ever hit a bird with your car? A co-worker and I were hanging out fairly regularly one summer. More often than not, when driving to her house, I would hit a bird with my car. It was the strangest damn thing. Just driving along, and bam! -- a cloud of feathers in the rear-view mirror. Another time, while driving home from her house late at night, a rabbit hit my car. Yes, the rabbit hit the car. In the mirror, I could see it bounce several times. The rabbit appeared to be unharmed, aside from being dead. Moments later, a policeman stopped me. I had a difficult time explaining why I had a dead rabbit in a box. I wanted to give the unfortunate creature a dignified disposal. I never killed or harmed an animal before or since that summer when Laura and I were hanging out. --Mark __ Burning Rome : SENSELESS CD on Mindfield Records MindCD03 Cathartium 14
