Me being selfish again, but... To all the people going to the NY picnic - since I'm going to be coming to see you all in 45 days, why not go to my website, print out the rather unflattering and porky photo of me, and sit it beside you as you picnic in East River Park..perhaps I can go in goal when the soccer kicks off - no-one else ever seems to want to... Please, please don't take this the wrong way, but being on the list has pretty much revolutionised my bigoted, unfair, but at least partially justified view of Americans. Over here in dear ol' Blighty, we don't always get to see your best sides (viz the tourists, for a start), and there's a fair amount of resentment and dislike in some quarters - you should have seen the joy in the pub when Iran beat you in the World Cup... ;-) But it's been eye-opening to hear from so many people who've blown my prejudices out of the water. Particularly, those over the water don't seem to be nearly as preoccupied as us with what's cool, what's the right way to behave etc. Maybe all that shit's rife with you too, but it doesn't seem to come through in your postings, which is what matters from this point of view. So basically, I hope I don't sound too sycophantic, but thanks for the revelation, which in turn makes me wonder how guilty I am of all of the above. I can't wait to meet many of you in New York City - I know I'll be well looked after... If You're Feeling Sinister is best album by Belle and Sebastian.
