Re: Sinister: Praise from unexpected sources
Sorry to bring politics onto the list but this really angered me.
Every time I read the NME and it say's such mindless comments as
"Cast are shit.....but at least they're shit under a Labour government"
I mumble under my breath "socialist rag"
Can anyone explain what Richard here is ranting about?
I only read the NME to find out about music and the latest news and stuff.
If you think music, and especially Belle and Sebastian aren't political then you are mising the point. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . no, it's beyond me... i just thought the NME was basically a load of crap irrespective of politics. only steven wells is vaguely interesting because he has opinions and can write... the rest is just boring. apart from the picture that someone sneaked off at the belle and sebastian hotel party. hmmm.

or missing A point, most certainly. In my opinion the biggest one, but there you go, that's me and my opinions on the nature of Pop again (that it is intrinsically political, with a small p...). Oh, and wasn't it stuart m who said that basically, the band was socialist? i liked the points made in the stephen pastel interview someone posted recently actually. i thought they were spot on. And you know, today i listened to 'The Wicked Palace revolution' by McCarthy today, and realised how apt it is now... sunstitute 'tony' for 'neil' and it's all painfully true. As we all knew it was, but... whatever. i'm just an old socialist feeling a bit uptight again. you know how it goes... the duke. -- Tangents On-Line http://www.virtual-pc.com/tangent/ Tangents On-Paper: PO Box 102, Exeter, EX2 4YL, UK tangent@mail.zynet.co.uk ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . There is no official release dat yet, but hopefully once the band have finished in the studio (first week of feb.) then they'll put together the tracks for the EP and 3rd LP, and decide on some release dates. it's trying to be patient ... cheers, Katrina. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- .
