Belle & Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap(Jeepster)
If you haven't got a Bell & Sebastian album nestling in your CD collection yet, it probably means you're not very cool. Their name alone - it comes from that black -and-white children's TV series about a boy and his St. Bernard which we all watched in the Seventies - makes them worth buying. and their mellow, softly-sung, melodic acoustic folk-pop, blessed with clever, wistful lyrics, is just the thing with which to soothe your friends at louche urban dinner parties. But to be frank, I can't hear much difference between this and their two earlier albums.
Review by James Delingpole - The Sunday Telegraph Sept. 13th 1998. "Critics Choice"
I actually got sent this by one of my cow-orkers, just goes to show... If you like Belle and Sebastian, you're marked for life. I'm off to buy another cardie - a nice one in beige and red, I think. cal
