Yes, Ultrasound do spout some bollocks and Melody Maker even more so. But the fact remains that Ultrasound are one of the brightest new bands in british music at the moment. For a start they look different... which is quite refreshing, and they (from what I've heard so far) write good songs. Also, I'd side with you about the Manics, but Feeder!? They're a washed up load of grunge toss if I ever heard it.
