I think I'll stick to Radcliffe/Greening on Radio 1.
That Greening bloke is really shit. I've ended up just listening to CD's in the morning. I'll tune in again when Mark and Lard return. Although they're morning show is a watered down, mainstreamed version of the old nightime slot. I look forward to the day they go back to doing to late show. Playing the music they want to play, and getting rid of that old git Peel and his crappy techno rubblish for good. At least you folks in London have a half decent alternative with XFM. The thing is, they need to get as many listeners as posible, which means playing the most mainstream indie. I'd still prefer that to the spice girls, elton john etc. John S. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . In defence of that old git Peel and his techno rubbish: I think John Peel's really good. Living abroad I only get half an hour a week, which I usually miss anyway. He played a request for me once. His wife's been ill. He's not an old git and his techno rubbish is quite pleasing to my ears. I'm going to sulk now. Peter And he does his world service programme from his house. Nothing personal, I hope? I was only gallantly defending my favourite bearded disk jockey. Admittedly not strictly B&S related. no on no no NO! I can't belieeeeeve you'd rather have the plodding nonsense of 'mainstream indie' (translates us unimaginative, generic twaddle) over the Spice Girls! Give me Pop Songs over self indulgent guitar wank any day. Speaking of which, someone sent me the new Sleeper CD single today. Anyone who wants to take it off my hands simply complete the following statement: I only listen to Sleeper records because Louise Wiener look like a.... There's a 'nice' black and white pic of the 'lady' in question to go with it... And not a mention of Belle and Sebastian. the duke -- Tangents On-Line http://www.virtual-pc.com/tangent/ Tangents On-Paper: PO Box 102, Exeter, EX2 4YL, UK tangent@mail.zynet.co.uk ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . I only listen to Sleeper records because Louise Wiener looks like a...sausage! I went to a star-studded premiere of Trainspotting at the San Sebastian film festival and they played that bloody Blondie cover over and over and over before it started. The "stars" included that girl Diane, introduced with the words, "not only is she beautiful and talented, but she also has the genorosity to get undressed for us!" Oh, how we laughed. By the way, this year's festival starts next week, so I shall be hob-nobbing with stars of the calibre of Michael "Kirk" Douglas and Julia "Pretty Woman" Rogers for the next ten days or so. It seems to me that I shall be living my life like a candle in the wind... I'd better mention Belle and Sebastian. In Barcelona they will be gracing the "rock" stage, together with the likes of Billy Bragg. Sadly not on the same day. Right, I'm going upfield...
