Sinister: white horses
look, belle and sebastian content... was in rough trade shop in covent garden today and was talking to jamie behind the counter, just chatting about the bowlie weekend. anyway, he mentioned that belle and sebastian had played an instore at ther shop beack when b&s were 'lisa helps the blind' and it was pretty much just the two stuarts. it was actually a pastels instore and they'd just come along for the ride and did a few songs beforehand. then i remembered that i'd been at a pastels instore at the rough trade shop and there had been a band playing beforehand and it's around the right sort of time (mobile safari kinda time, 1995) so i guess it must've been them. pity i don't remember the first thing about them though. picked up the new isan single whilst i was there today. then he mentioned that the mini lp had just been released too. then, on the offchance, i asked if they'd reordered the isan cd (beautronics) and they had so it was an isan kind of day today. that and a couple of 12"s on moving shadow which no-one here will like 8) this all happened on the way back from the gig last night. pam, bowlie bus pam and friends in some church hall in greenwich. you should've been there, it was largely empty. and pam got to sing one with the jasmine minx which i doubt she'd've thought possible all those years ago when they had those classic creation singles out (they did 'cold hands, warm heart' which pretty much made the evening). how do i get rid of ants without killing them? i got back from london to find half a dozen of the buggers crawling all over everywhere. i can't see where they're getting in cos of all the junk (er, i mean 'collectibles') piled up everywhere but they seem to be concentrated around the computer. (there's one now running along below the space bar). ick. maybe i oughta trap them somehow and take them to the picnic* tomorrow cos a picnic's not a picnic without ants. *greenwich railway station at 2 o'clock on sunday, that's only 10 minutes or so from charing cross on the local trains. bring economy tarts. andy who only saw th faith healers the once but roxanne was astounding, like a cross between cousin itt and kat bjelland. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister@majordomo.net". that's a really nice story. maybe it explains why stuart was reported to have been grinning like postman pat (another british film/tv character?) at bowlie. not that he would gloat or anything. mark casarotto wrote: Therefore, "in the mud, on her knees" (obvious), "anyone, all the time" (ditto) "you know a girl who's tax free on her back.....while you are working for the joy of giving" (this is the line that shows she's not a prostitute, just a keen amateur :)). the line before "anyone, all the time" puts an entirely different twist on it, doesn't it? i think jane is trying to remove the DOUBLE STANDARD. she's trying to show that she's in it for herself, but sadly it doesn't work that way 'cos what's the use if everyone else thinks you're a victim? i thought the line-painter part meant that jane might be a painter of lines on freeways (or do you call them motorways?) which would explain why she sleeps at bus stops 'cos it must be a job like truckdriving but then i guess she works the village shop ... or maybe painting lines is what you do before you paint pictures and everything fits together? aha! "working the village shop" doesn't mean working at the village shop - so she's advertising something - her artwork ... there are many puzzling things in this that i could not find an answer to in the archives. 1. what exactly is a dose of thrush? how come you can get it in 2 ways? 2. what is QC in the sleeve notes? i see now that appearance is only the surface of substance and regret any part i played in shifting attention in that direction. youn ps what does the subject line white horses refer to? +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
