A message from List Mummy, saucepan in hand. There's too much traffic on this list for it to be sustainable, from past experience, and from watching the subscriptions. We've seen this before: too many messages with too little content, or messages for a pile of close friends. Could I ask you all to pull together a bit, remember this isn't a friends club for 20 people, and be very careful if you're thinking of posting that (a) you don't dare until you yourself know the full weight of reading every other message before you and (b) you're damn sure at least 75% of the people on the list will want to read what you type. Please lay off a little if you've posted a lot recently and give others room to breathe so they feel they can actually join in. We'll notice. I'm deadly serious, this list needs you all to help so it can keep a spring in its step. That probably means we don't want 999 quotes from Homer Simpson, icon to modern living that he is. Out of circulation as I am just now, I will do what I can to make sure this list stays around and is enjoyable for all people, new and old. Let me know if I'm getting this right please, or give me suggestions if you have any ideas; but not on the list, to me privately. Mails you send will stack up in my inbox for ages and you might get a general reply, but they're always always gratefully received and listened to. Oh and thank you to everyone who's been sweet about me being an awful lump at the moment. I've not gone far and I'm watching.
