A Summer Wasting I think this song is played with a capo on the 2nd fret, that makes the intro/outro the easiest to play. I'll put the basic chords down, and also an alternate, easier way to play them with the capo on (ie no barre chords). Intro/Outro (relative to capo on 2nd fret) e--------0-2--------3-2--------0-2--------9-7-(0)- <--(0) optional for intro b----3----------3----------3----------3-------(3)- <--(3) optional for outro G--2---2------2---2------2---2------2---2--------- D------------------------------------------------- A------------------------------------------------- E------------------------------------------------- (intro played with this part) Summer in winter Winter in springtime You heard the birds sing Everything will be fine F#m B I spent the summer wasting F#m B A The time was passed so easily F#m B But if the summer's wasted F#m B A How come that I could feel so free F#m B I spent the summer wasting F#m B A The sky was blue beyond compare F#m B A photograph of myself F#m B Is all I have to show for E A Seven weeks of river walkways E D Seven weeks of staying up all night F#m B (interlude) I spent the summer wasting The time was passed so pleasantly Say cheerio to books now The only things I'll read are faces 1 spent the summer wasting Under a canopy of E A Seven weeks of reading papers E A Seven weeks of river walkways E A Seven weeks of feeling guilty E D Seven weeks of staying up all night F#m B (interlude) (intro/outro played with this) Summer in winter Winter is springtime You heard the bird say Everything will be fine Chord fingerings with the capo (all are relative to the capo): EADGbe F#m: 022000 B: x02220 A: 320033 E: x00232 D: x32010 so basically, an F#m is played like Em, B like an A, A like a G, etc. I don't know whether they actually play it like this...anyone notice if Stuart M. used a capo for this at one of the shows?
