Here's my favourite B&S moment, from the time I was living in London, last year: It was a Saturday night and I'd been clubbing, so it was pretty late. I walked back from the tube station (in East London), tired but happy, because I'd had a good night and my Walkman was playing "Sinister". I started walking down my street and suddenly in the street lights I saw a fox! I stopped and watched it for a while, and it must have noticed me then, because it looked up at me. It didn't run away. We stood there watching each other for a while, then it scuttled off again, between the parked cars, and crossed the street to the park. If only it had been snowing...... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . This message was brought to you by the Sinister mailing list. . the only b&s song i don't love is "lazy line painter jane" (i actually like the song lots, just not what happens to it when monica queen sings)
That's uplifting news - it always makes me cringe, and if I'd heard it before any other B&S stuff I would have written them off as sub-Deacon Blue.
Oh dear. I feel a confession (and a slating) coming on. I've always really liked Monica's infamous vocals on LLPJ. And it's suddenly occured to me, with that last message, that perhaps I know why. I used to be a very big Deacon Blue fan. (I still stand by the fact that Raintown is a fantastic album). So maybe you're right. Fire away...
