RE: Sinister: sad songs
We're all choked up with emotion today, aren't we? I find it hard to think about stuff like this at college, which is a bit grim, frankly. However, I'll do my best. Lets go for a nice conventional one to begin with: Something Changed by Pulp. Possibly the least cynical and ironic song Jarvis Cocker has ever written. And it's very lovely indeed. Dead Bird Sings by Baby Bird. Pretty much ditto for this one, actually. Heart Of Darkness by Sparklehorse. Just gorgeous and never fails to prod the tear ducts into action. I think it's that pedal steel sound that does it. Fly by Nick Drake. "And I just sit on the ground in your way". And, it goes without saying (except that I just said it...oh sod it), many many Belle & Sebastian songs. Fox in the Snow. The slow live version of Seeing Other People. We Rule The School (oh, how beautiful is this song?). And that's just some of the _songs_. So much poetry makes me want to bawl. Or at least makes my nose ache in anticipation of crying. Anyway, that's enough for now.
