Sinister: knocky doory night

Peering back through the mists of time to the days of my brattish youth , I
am reminded of the legendary Knocky Doory nights. Nobody else I've ever met
has ever heard of it but basically the night before Halloween was the night
all the local delinquents had the right to knock on neighbours doors and
then run away.

B&S  are obviously aware of Knocky Doory night ! I have this vision of 8
fully  formed adults sniggering behind a hedgerow whilst the MAN stands at
the door mystified.
