It's the largest of Clement Atlee's post war housing estates that were built in Glasgow, others being Drumchapel, Castlemilk, and I've forgotten the other one... oops. 

It was also the name of Morrissey's pick of 86(?) who as usual thanks to

Who also did name themselves after the housing estate in Glasgow - which was slightly confusing given that they were from Manchester (at least as far as my memory serves me).
