i would just LOVE for B&S to appear on totp, live
and kicking, whatever the fuck they could get
their pert little bodies onto would be super duper
cool. As long as it was 'on their terms'
naturally. Saw the footage of Dexys on TOTP with
the Jocky Wilson still in the background and
despite (because?) of this i was still moved.
Then read the section in the very excellent
'England's Dreaming' about 'Don't Stand Me Down'
and felt like weeping. THEN found a review of the
reissue claiming it as lost classic and feeling so
ANGRY because some of us knew this and were
telling the world so very many years ago. And
this has what to do with B&S? Well i like the way
they are attempting to do it all on their terms,
taking no bullshit, just like Dexys. Stealing
master tapes to renegotiate contracts... now THAT
i would love to see B&S carry off! :-)

'got no apprehension' as them close lobster dudes
would once have sung from the depths of paisley.
i want the whole world to hear and have the chance
to fall in love with and to Belle & Sebastian.
And what's a 'true believer' anyway? Someone who
heard them before 'the masses'? Only people who
have Tigermilk? I think it's a silly distinction,
as noted before... if your faith is true it shows
through and you don't need silly cliques and
fashions to 'prove' it. It's got something to do
with cred and cool and being 'first' because
that's POP, but it goes beyond that by a mile.
It's called Love and it belongs to everyone of us.

Don't stand me down, or around,
for i'll never stop saying your name.

keep the faith,

the duke
