Sinister: ink postcard

for andreas' attention and anyone else interested, it was Green Sea Blue
:-) and here's some more postcards from the edge of england...

this is one of me sitting on the 'kissing stones'. it's a rocky
protusion on the cliff edge, and there's two rocks on the path side
leaning against each other, just touching at the top. it really does
look like they're kissing. Anyway, i'm leaning over the edge because i'm
trying to get a good angle to take a picture of the sea way below. The
duchess is telling me to be careful, because the wind is so strong, and
it wouldn't do to fall down the cliffs on my birthday. The wind is
indeed so strong it's taking my breath away.

this next one is us sitting drawing mullion harbour and cliffs. the
duchess is drawing the rocks because she likes landscapes but i'm
drawing the harbour, which sticks out at a lovely angle, because i like
consructions and geometry. we've found a little patch of grass which is
sheltered from the wind, and the sun patches that pass with frequency
are welcome for their warmth. Somewhere up to our left there's the
sounds of birdsong.

this last one is of the number on the side of a boat in mullion harbour.
It reads 253, and it's painted white on blue, with the paint all flaking
and fading. As i take the picture an old fisherman shouts over with a
laugh that they're going to burn the boat tomorrow. we're laughing back,
but out of awkwardness more than anything else, because we don't know if
he's telling the truth or just taking the piss out of the tourist,
making pictures out of things that are used to earn liveliehoods.
