haven't had the honour of seeing them live yet, but know what you mean
about the sound... there's that Hobbs radio live set where they play 'My
Favourite Muse' into 'Clearing' and it's just so amazing, especially the
guitar lines that go for the sun like Television or something... and
yes, the recorded version of 'muse' is less striking, but then again, i
has a restrained magic about it.  Whatever, i do think that Philophobia
is a great record, and suggest that the B&S album will have to go some
to better it...

Also got mAssive Attack's Mezzanine (not the one Elvis walked up onto i
dare say...) yesterday but feel much less impressed by it... perhaps it
will grow.
