Sinister: how do i grow a tape tree?

hmmm...

after reading many vague references to this thing called a "tape tree", i
must finally ask for an exact definition.. i'm sorry, i've been away so i
don't know. and really, i *did* look it up in the archives but it didn't
amount to much, so now i'm turning to YOU... 

this mysterious tape tree: the result of gene splicing between plants and
music? or is it like a rubber plant or something? can i get one or is it too
late? i promise to give it lots of sunlight and water, and who knows - maybe
i'll even sing to it to make it grow better. 

so, um, can anybody help?
