Hello dear children,
as the poetry parrot dreamily called my name..here they are...(it's a
bit late,yes but oh i needed to sleep) All three are by W.B. Yeats..I
was going to do Fern Hill by Dylan Thomas,but i figured since he's just
been featured in last monday's poems,do some different ones.

When You Are Old

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire,take down this book,
And slowly read,and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once,and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur,a little sadly,how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And his his face amid a crowd of stars.

The Sorrow of Love

The brawling of a sparrow in the eaves,
The brilliant moon and all the milky sky,
And all that famous harmony of leaves,
Had blotted out man's image and his cry.

A girl arose that had red mournful lips
And seemed the greatness of the world in tears,
Doomed like Odysseus and the labouring ship
And proud as Priam murdered with his peers;

Arose,and on the instant clamorous eaves,
A climbing moon upon an empty sky,
And all that lamentation of the leaves,
Could but compose man's image and his cry.

Never Give All The Heart

Never give all the heart,for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Certain,and they never dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
For everything that's lovely is
But a brief,dreamy,kind delight.
O never give the heart outright,
For they,for all smooth lips can say,
Have given their hearts up to the play.
And who could play it well enough
If deaf and dumb and blind with love?
He that made this knows all the cost,
For he gave all his heart and lost.

love from your little friend,
genevieve
