I have heard that too but for me this has never been true. I always 
or at least during the past few years listened to music I liked when 
I was miserable ..and so far there hasn't been any negative feelings 
attached to any song, thaknfully ...
But music does help ...

Anyway I guess it is different for everyone so don't take my word for 
it.
