Sinister: halo of lights

hi all,

it's been a little while since i've posted - all that reaction about ahren
really scared me, honestly. i just wanted to share, and it got turned into
this big moral thing. no need to worry any more, though. i've got that kiss
out of my system and we're still good friends. if only the whole world
worked like seinfeld.

i've got a friend here in toronto who has a taped copy of tigermilk! of
course, i was very surprised and asked where he got it...turns out, it was
from a friend of a friend's girlfriend in college, and therefore impossible
to track down as he isn't in touch with the friend any more. i'm so curious,
though, as to how the heck someone in toronto of all places would find a
copy of tigermilk. because i was under the impression that tigermilks were
really only distributed in the uk and a bit in the us, and probably not at
all in canada. does anyone know if any were supposed to have been sent to
canada? sounds like a david and katrina question.

so i'm sitting here under a lovely halo of christmas lights, as i've draped
them across my bookshelf and tape racks and they're just hovering over my
monitor, they're little bright white lights and i'm debating whether or not
i should put in the flashing bulb so i can have a real light show in here. i
tell you, if i had a boy this would be a den of sex. well, something
similar, anyways. i say that belle and sebastian should record an album of
christmas songs. can you imagine how beautiful the holidays would become?
b+s are already perfect fluffy snow and rosy cheeks music, and so are a bit
festive anyways, but my grandparents have issues with playing music that's
not christmassy over the holidays. even though last year i snuck in some
IYFS, they soon realised that there was no mention of nativity scenes or
jingling bells, so b+s was out and boney m was back in.

so, uh, this is kind of like a plea for friends, but i've started a yahoo
club. lame, yes, but oh! the status of being the *founder* of a club. so i'm
inviting you all to join, to become members of twee socks. i'm not sure what
it's about yet, as there are only two members thus far, but it's all in the
spirit of sharing and poking my nose into lives where it doesn't belong. so

other b+s related news: i'm in the process of trying to convert a friend to
b+s, but she's only heard parts of twattybus and she's a trumpet player, she
actually plays in the symphony youth orchestra (which is invitation only and
still costs a pretty penny to join, but she's so good they're only charging
her like $100), so i think that dog on wheels would probably appeal to her
more. i'm wondering, there's a boy at school named matt, he's really
grasping at anything that he thinks might make him "cool" or "different".
i'm wondering if i should abuse my "cool" powers (which he made clear to me
when he found out my tongue was pierced, said 'but you look so innocent...i
guess you're really not' with a perverse wink...ugh) and get him into b+s.
because he's so easily manipulated, and he was acting all nonchalantly
curious when he heard me playing twattybus in the music room. should i? or
should i work on sweet tyler, who looks like steve malkmus? or both? oh,
decisions.
