Sinister: sweetmeats, anyone?

okay who remembers the episode of the Young Ones (it was "NASTY" i
think) wherein Vyvyan goes into a wardrobe during a game of hide and
seek and as he's walking deeper and deeper into it he starts getting
snowed on, and then he stumbles out into a field and then that freaky
witch woman on her sled with some little dwarf guy  (Michael something
 was the name of the actor, he was in lots of other shows that needed
dwarfs in the eighties) driving it offers Vyvyan some <sweetmeats>? 
well needless to say it's a really funny goof on the whole "Lion the
witch and the wardrobe" series, which i think all self-respecting
children should read at one time or another.  actually all children
should read it even if they don't respect themselves.  i didn't.  

there's another cool series called "the dark is rising", by susan
cooper.  it's about this kid who goes to wales on vacation and
discovers this whole welsh legend about a golden harp and....well
you'll just have to read it yourself.  i remember it starts out with
this awesome poem about a prophecy, and as a little girl in
massachusetts with no self-respect, i spent many an hour memorizing
it.  and i still know it to this day.
