...(said the card in the phonebox)

books: my favourite children's books would have to be the Follyfoot Farm
ones by Monica Dickens. unfortunately i was a bit of a horse enthusiast in
my earlier youth. also Haphazard House by Mary Wesley (i think). and arthur
ransome, naturalmente. i spent a good portion of my 6th form 'study' periods
reading children's books, because my soc. coursework was entitled
'children's literature reinforces traditional gender stereotypes' unluckily
i couldn't be bothered to read any sociological literature on the topic, and
instead handed in a too long essay, with a huge section on the significance
of tomboys, which would have suited an english course better. and got hardly
any marks for it.

hey ho, i listened to IYFS for the first time in ages t'other day. it made
me think of when i was 17ish, and i felt old. which frankly is very very
stupid, because it was only a year ago.

by movements, are we talking kind of genres? stuff like that. because i keep
having discussions with friends about how there isn't really anything that
defines this part of the nineties. and that it's all a bit fragmented
currently. and that there are no groups that are really big and life
changing right now. i think i decided that it was pre millenial cynicism,
but then decided that was a bit pretentious and unthought it. there doesn't
seem to be a lot of collectivism anymore, but as i wasn't around in the
times when there was meant to be, i don't think i ought comment.

i've had a very productive day, i've tidied my room, and actually polished
some furniture. i only did this becuse i couldn't find the floor this
morning. i knew it was getting dire when i found the old packed lunch. i've
not eaten a packed lunch for a few months now...but now it's all very tidy.

shut up
