Describe to me what sort of music you like in 
less than a sentence and most likely you'll find
some sort of stereotypical label.  I'm loathe
to believe that a world without definitions
is a good world.  I think that you're reacting
to the manner in which people judge harshly
without examining a subject themselves - I'd
say an entirely different matter than actually
giving a name to something like "modernism" or
"alternative" or "classic rock". While it's 
good to be open-minded, I don't like "fusion"
much for example, whereas I might like "contemporary
classical".  Useful definitions I'd say.  As for
splitting hairs about where groups lie, I think that
the more specific the characteristics of the classifications,
the more likely a group spans multiple sets.
