Describe to me what sort of music you like in
less than a sentence and most likely you'll find
some sort of stereotypical label. I'm loathe
to believe that a world without definitions
is a good world. I think that you're reacting
to the manner in which people judge harshly
without examining a subject themselves - I'd
say an entirely different matter than actually
giving a name to something like "modernism" or
"alternative" or "classic rock". While it's
good to be open-minded, I don't like "fusion"
much for example, whereas I might like "contemporary
classical". Useful definitions I'd say. As for
splitting hairs about where groups lie, I think that
the more specific the characteristics of the classifications,
the more likely a group spans multiple sets.
