Sinister: olive branch to the US (&Canada)

It seems my puerile attempts concerning our friends on the other side of
the Atlantic at wit have stirred up a hornets nest on a topic that has a
nasty habit of tying up the last regularly on a series of futile
arguements.

I apologise for any offence caused and if anybody still feels like giving
me the stick I deserve, will they please send it to me privately so as to
prevent listee repetitive strain injury from deleting all the flak aimed at
me.

I have E-mailed Keith M privately requesting that he not leave the list
just because of my lapse. I would like to think,to lessen my feelings of
guilt and responsibility, that Keith was already suffering from some sort
of dissatisfaction with the list. I am not proud at all to cause such grave
offence to an individual.

I do believe that my perceived currentUS cultural imperialism is a a
product of historical natural selection. By this, I mean that the most
powerful/successful nation's values historically have left a cultural
residue over their sphere of interest. The British having been in a similar
position of global power 2 centuries ago with the same accusations being
equally valid against the Brits.Having said that, I feel that the Western
capitalist way has a positve affect globally and is good a system as
anything else the World has seen so far. As I said earlier, if anybody
disagrees with what after all is only my opinion please take it up with me
privately. 

I shall now return the Andrews salts to the cupboard and remain verbally
constipated regarding the list until the Eclipse in August 1999 when
MacDonaldian darkness will descend again.
