Gatorade is a sports beverage that is supposed to incresase your
athletic performance with carbohydrates and electrolytes and other
things. Parents also sometimes give it to their sick children. I don't
know why it's called Gatorade, but workmate Kimmy just suggested the
following:

Gatorade is meant to rehydrate the body, keeping it from getting
(internally, presumably) dry like an alligator. Any other theories?

All Gatorade tastes suspiciously like food coloring and comes in
bright, ghastly colors (one might glow in the dark, but I'm not sure),
but, for some reason it has been my beverage of choice all week. (But
maybe that's just because I have a meal card which will indubitably have
funds left at the end of the semester which will not be transferred or
refunded and Gatorade is an expensive beverage. Gotta finish that meal
plan.)

Any other questions about American food and beverage can be directed to
me, Kristen, your international food expert. Thank you for your time.
