Sinister: native naivete

Blinkers are things that they put on racehorses to stop them looking
around, and hence being distracted / startled when they're running. When
humans wear them it's usually a sign of being focussed on one idea to the
point of exclusion of all others (to put it politely.)

Sid James was an Australian who lived with Tony Hancock in East Cheam. He
had the world's dirtiest laugh, and a pretty dirty face too.
