Oh yes, tis true
whilst flying back from the U.S on Virgin this monday I flicked through
the entertainment guide to see what was on offer : The Game (average),
Modern Times : DJ (hilarious - sorry if I'm behind the times on this one
but American TV tends not to specialise in such quality viewing) , I
looked at what the 'radio' channels had to offer & saw that Steve Lamacq
was hosting a look at what's new in 'Indie', including a mention of our
favorite Scottish N'err do wells.
So true enough, having listened to various dross including
Propellerheads (sorry dance-inclined listies) Modern Rock Song came on -
it was quite different to the sessions - it sounds more produced (states
the obvious) - the trumpets go on for longer - I think? & Stuart sings
'writing songs' instead on 'riding buses' - which i have heard is what
he sings live - & which I don't like as much.
True to form Mr Lamacq spoke over the ending saying they were going to
be massive in 98 - Ohh he is SO on the ball - so I'm not sure if it's
the same as the sessions (..the song has got to stop somewhere), but i
hope so.
Sorry, that's a bobbins review but it was about 3 in the morning & I was
trying too hard to remember all the differences
So a few questions
1/ Are there other promos of this floating around?
2/ Is Jeepster somehow affiliated with Virgin, & is that why they got
the scoop...?
3/ How come the annoying DJ gets to hear the song before the people that
matter...?
4/ is paying £250 to fly the most anyone has paid just to hear a song?
probably not, if Tigerinflation continues
5/ Is this all old news & should I shut up?
I thank you for your attention
Paul
P.S I bought the Air (obligatory mention) album yesterday & it's watered
down St Etienne b-sides ( sorry........)
