Sinister: Which Kay Thompson? (I'll try to be sad either way)

Was the Kay Thompson who just passed away also the writer of "Eloise", the
childrens book about a little girl living in the plaza hotel. I love that
book.
Anyone else ever read it? 

Illistrated childrens books are great (although now I use my younger sister as
an excuse to take them out of the library). Anyone ever heard of Graeme Base?
He's an Australian painter who's done some great work. I highly reccomend it
to anyone who enjoys that sort of thing (even if they have to use a younger
sibling or some other young child as an excuse to enjoy it).
