slowdive, yes, a truly wonderful band... well i thought so anyway. it's
such a shame that those shoegazing bands (slowdive, telescopes, ride etc)
are scorned upon by almost everyone these days. one of the first albums i
bought was 'just for a day' by slowdive, and it's really really lovely -
admittedly their final album, 'pygmalion' was very strange, but it had some
truly gorgeous moments on it as well.

i admit that the lyrics above look a bit lame, but when sung they sound
wonderful - plus you can't really hear the words properly, as with most of
their songs. not that i'm saying that's necessarily a good thing, but if
the lyrics are dire it's sometimes a good idea. i'd be the first to admit
that lyrics are important, and am often content with just reading the
lyrics to a song rather than listening to it, but some bands 'work' really
well even though you can't make out a single word (the cocteau twins for
example). anyway, that song is called 'when the sun hits' and it's on
'souvlaki', which is a really nice album, with some gorgeously sad and
mellow songs like 'altogether', 'dagger', and 'here she comes' on.

mojave 3, which is neil and rachel's new band, is also fantastic. i have
their album, 'ask me tomorrow', which is truly lovely and wonderfully laid
back in a country kind of way, but i STILL haven't heard their new single.
is it any good? i saw them support for luna at the garage a couple of
years ago, and they were wonderful, as were luna. that has to be one of my
favourite gigs ever.

i used to be on the slowdive and mojave 3 mailing list, but they weren't
nearly as nice as you lot :) so i got bored and unsubscribed...

ah well, that's enough irrelevant shoegazing banter for one day

bye bye
