How about the fabulously insane guitar solo on 'A House IS Not A Motel' by
LOVE on that greatest of all LA folk/rock/pop/psychedelic type LPs Forever
Changes,(Elektra, 1967), it just cuts out abruptly at its speed-crazed
height with out so much as a by-your-leave, proving difficult if you choose
to DJ with it (although the opportunities to do this are rare, if not
non-existent, these days...)

You certainly can, indeed there should be more such recommendations, how
about this for a MBV top-five;

1) Lovelee Sweet Darlene ('New Record By' EP, Kaleidoscope, 1986)

2) Strawberry Wine (12" Single, Lazy, 1987)

3) (Please) Lose Yourself In Me ('Ecstasy' LP, Lazy, 1987)

4) Soft As Snow (But Warm Inside) ('Isn't Anything' LP, Creation, 1988)

5) You Made Me Realise (EP, Creation, 1988)

Although of course this is but the tip of the proverbial iceberg, and
pretty much any of the above can be substituted for another (except Nos. 1
& 5). (and probably No.2)

Also, on a B&S relational note, I have a friend who insists on the
similarity between 'Le Pastie..' and 'Strawberry Wine'...

Also, has anybody else heard the new offering by David Gedge? 'Kerry
Kerry', Cinerama, on Cooking Vinyl, it's rather fine in a shimmering upbeat
pop, strings, and harmonies kind-of-a-way, suggesting to my mind that he
retains a degree of his pop (or should that be P!O!P!, (?) I'm new to the
list) sensibility of yore

Cheers
Ed
