Sinister: Ep's

Hiya,
I was fortunate enough to pick up promo copies of  
the three CD ep's at a record fair in Oxford last 
Saturday and along with the press releases on the
back, the Dog on Wheels EP also says "500 only".
Were there only ever 500 CD's or 500 promos?
The first seems too few and the latter too many.
Any ideas?
