Sinister: Menswear

Debbie,
There's little shame attached to being a fan of Menswear. I have a copy
of their album. They are, I suppose amongst the bands which promised
much and sadly failed to deliver. The same can be said for Flowered Up I
suppose. Menswear's 'Daydreamer' was a superb record, reminiscent
of Wire and early XTC. The follow up singles, quite frankly, weren't.
Flowered Up did 'It's On' brilliant and a lot of rubbish that ended up on 'A
Life with Brian' though they did redeem themselves with the epic
'Weekender' which I will always associate with a night hike from Bristol
to Bath made just after my finals in '92. I do have quite acute musical
association of this kind, but then I suppose anyone would remember the
song they were singing in the pitch black of a curved railway tunnel at 3
in the morning.....

Mark.
