Avoiding work too...

What exactly then are Mark Gardener's new band like then? I liked Carnival
of Light a lot, at least Mark Gardener's stuff on it anyway, Andy Bell spent
the whole time doing a lot of posturing and trying to get into the
limelight, but the harsh reality was that his stuff wasn't as good. I also
found that album quite weird in the sense that a lot of rock drummers all
wind up doing comedy songs, like Keith Moon, on "Cobwebs and Strange" and
obviously Ringo Starr's efforts, however in Ride, the drummer manages to
come up with his one and only song written for the band "Natural Grace" and
it turns out to be one of the best tracks they've ever recorded.
I thought the last Ride album was rubbish, which was a pity, there's
quite a lot of neat "fretwork" on it, and lots of fancy "licks" (cheers Tag)
but the songs are crap, oh well, never mind.

Funny band Ride, I never seemed to be able to put my finger on why I
thought they were quite good. All the signs were that they were a bit
overrated. However, I think the first EP's and the first album worked well
at the time, "Like a Daydream" was out in the summer, then "Taste" and the
first album came out in the autumn which felt right for the way they
sounded... if you get my drift.

Keith.
