I do know exactly what you mean, I've had pretty much the same experience as
you except with the Stone Roses rather than the Smiths, being five years
younger than you, but again none of them match Belle and Sebastian, no other
band would drag me further than a train journey to Glasgow to go and see
them and I went to Manchester and was all ready to go to London last year
too. Lots of stuff about it is different, it's more like going to actually
listen to some music rather than be thrown around in a massive mob and
"hear" music being played at 150 dBs which it's basically impossible to
hear. It's also like a preview of a load of new songs too cause they always
play stuff you haven't heard yet which I like. Plus they do them in
different sorts of places - which is kind of like what the Roses did (at
least, when they ruled), which makes you feel that it's a bit more special.
Pity the Kelvingrove park do didn't come off, I think that would've been
great fun. I hope they should attempt some sort of outdoor thingy again
sometime.
