First up... apologies for previous post to list. It was meant to go to
Bethey privately, but I've been here for 9 hours now, and I've written
3000 words on adapting Information System Design methodologies for the
World Wide Web, and my brain hurts, and I'm going to answer this then go
home an play Worms 2 all night.

Anyway...

This is interesting, cause the reason I was down in INGERLAND over the
weekend was to meat up with some people from uk.misc . It was only the
fourth time I've met people off the net, and was very strange meeting
people who I've talked to for over a year, but never met. Lots of mental
images totally shattered.

Speelchucking sucks. Let it all hang out, that's what I say.

In my considered opinion, da Spiceys ROOL!

I will limit my usual 4 page diatribe on what's so great about them, cause
I don't think it's overly on-topic for the list (unlike everything else I
post, natch). But...

They are the first proper all-girl P!O!P! band since Bananarama. For too
long, girls have had the monopoly on Take That, NKOTB, Bros, etc. It's
about time boys got something to pin up on their walls. They have
produced one of the best P!O!P! albums of the decade. Fact. Since
BoyzOnE last churned out a long-player or dreepy ballads, the fabbest five
since TT have produced *2* (count'em) albums of wonderfully uplifting
choons.

And "Girl Power" is probably the best piece of marketing in POP! history.
Simon Fuller deserves a knighthood for that one.

Anyway, this rant continues below, cause then I read the message from Jon
G which said:

You don't realise until you're older, but having your own style and not
following the "cool" people inversely makes you cool in the eyes of other
similar outcasts.

<self depreciating gag> either that or you're just a total geek </sdg>

Vodka?? Bloody hell, they're rich around your bit. The 15-year-olds here
are always after "Ol' Gutrot's Improbably Strong Scrumpy", price 45p for
2l from the nearest paki shop.

Ok, this next bit isn't having a go at you, but is testing the water for
another of my "outrageous opinions":

It matters not how good a piece of music is. It is what is reminds you
off that makes you like it.

While you may deride people who think that "Angels" is a sensitive song,
while you prefer "We Rule The School", that is in no way a sign of
shallowness on their part. The fact remains that there is a beautiful
piece of music that makes them feel all snuggly inside. And that will
affect them for the rest of their lives.

My love of great female-voiced POP! could come from the fact that
something great happened to me whilst listening to The Reynolds Girls'
"We'd Rather Jack", and when I hear something like "Ooh Aah Just A Little
Bit" it takes me back to that.

Or perhaps this is all crap, and I'm just a freakshow.

Not me, I'm afraid.. "Superficial" would be my middle name, if it wasn't
for the fact that it's already "Alexander". Not something to be proud of,
but true nonetheless.

Jeez, this was a long one.

4 days til the Spice Girls concert...

Rod.
