that might have something to do with it...the cool indie brighton set
consisted solely of poor working-class lads happily on the dole, dreaming
dreams of socialism. throwing out retorts like, 'ride are only a band
because mummy and daddy bought them guitars for their fourteenth
birthdays.' ouch. but no, i think a lot of the indie kids just thought
shoegazing was an 'over' scene and liking chapterhouse was sad...maybe it
is, i'm not sure.
