Sinister: Slow graffiti

Dear all,

Whiled away in HMV and Selectadisc and was surprised to see the
soundtrack to 'The Acid House' is out already (movie out Jan 1st in UK).
Of course, featured on there (and heard via a listening post) is Belle &
Sebastian's 'Slow Graffiti', sandwiched between 'Hot Love' by T-Rex and,
erm, an Arab Strap song - 'Hot Pish' or some such. It's an intriguing
little number with the same echoey, Spectoresque production job done on
'Lazy Line Painter...' Verse 1 concerns a portrait, while Verse 2
alludes to 'putting the kid to bed'. Is there something we should know
here? It eventually builds to a tentative indie/dance finale. Oh yes.

Unfortunately, 1 track does not a sensible purchase make (I'll wait
'till the single), so instead I bought the 'enhanced' Portishead live
album (hmmm 15 minute video fimed from the dashboard of an old Maxi,
that's not really an enhancement of Beth and co. is it?), The Sundays'
1st album (well, it was only £4.99), the Inner Sleeve single, the Stony
Sleep single and Carole King's 'Tapestry' (I gave my last copy away to a
girl I met on her birthday, a ridiculously altruistic gesture that
didn't result in any you know what).

Spent the rest of the afternoon framing pictures of the soon-to-be-
demolished Springfield Park in Wigan. (nb made exiting discovery - a
little pile of Scotch sticky picture mounts is the best way to hang the
notoriously difficult clipframe)

Am tempted to see Salako on Thursday (Electric Sound of Joy's 'Total
Turns' was a great single but aren't they currently singerless?) and
will definitely crawl out of the woodwork for next Wednesday's
Whistler/Velocette gig at the same venue.

As for tonight, it's a toss up between playing football and boozing. Any
doctor would tell you that football will release some endorphins and
boost my serotonin levels whereas booze is a depressant, but I fear I
shall still opt for the latter. As for that B&S article from 'Bigwig'
magazine, by request of the marvellously monikered Frank Yang, I shall
endeavour to post it up here tomorrow.
