Sinister: underrated bands

the vulgar boatmen history is kind of complicated and im sketchy on
details so anyone is welcome to correct me
they have connections to a lot of bands because they've never been
stable as an outfit
I actually don't know who all the people in the band have played with
but You And Your Sister was produced by Walter Salas Humara who is the
main guy in the Silos so thats the silos connection
as for uncle tupelo (son volt/wilco) connection i dont think theres
anything besides vulgar boatmen being embraced by the alt. country
"movement" or whateever you wanna call it
the most comlicated thiong about vulgar boatmen is that they've split
into two bands, one in chicago and one in...i forget but the south
somewhere
the other thing is the main singer and songwriter of the v boatmen Dale
Lawrence sings on Mysteries Of Life's first record, tours with them and
might have joined the band i dunno

rumors abound about them but i dont know any more than that

as for silos they have connections with everybody in the alt.country
genre cause eeveryone loves him and he shows up everywhere

that probably wasnt very helpful except that i didnt realize how little
i knew about them

another underrecognized (though they could never be worshipped enough to
please me) is Giant Sand, though off shoots like Calexico and Friends Of
Dean Martinez are getting some exposure Giant Sand is criminally unknown
in general
im sure plenty of people will disagree with me but i have to say that
they are the best band in america if not the most talented group of
three musicians, for variety's sake there is no possible way to beat
them (except maybe with lots of computers and synths and stuff)
they certainly dont appeal to everyone in all of their forms, they can
be a little heavy musically
the description i give of their music is:
metalhead bob dylans riding hobbyhorses through the barrio
i could prolly name many other bands but I must do school work
