Sinister: Monica and Friends

In answer to two less-than-crucial questions on the list tonight, which
I still can't go to bed until I've answered all Smart Aleckly...
Lovely Monica Queen was the singer in Thrum, a wonderful band from
Glasgow who sounded like Maria McKee fronting Teenage Fanclub (just
pause for a while and thonk how wonderful that could be).
I last spoke to her in summer 1997, to ask whether she was singing with
B&S at Union Chapel and could she blag me a ticket (she was, and no). I
presume Thrum have now split as I see that her and guitarist John
Smillie did a gig as a duo last year. Anyone who could put me back in
touch with them, I would be very grateful. I hope they don't quit music
altogether; their gigs in 1993/94 were among the best times I've had in
London and as recently as 1996 I took a girlfriend to see them at the
Borderline (she loved them, we met the band, top snog action, a perfect
night, all told). Arond that time, I intrinsicly trusted anyone who
liked Thrum and Teenage Fanclub. I guess I feel the same about Belle and
Sebasitan, these days.
As for the other question, Michael Hutchence's other band were called
Max Q and, like INXS, I think you'll find they were irredeemably shite.
