Without wishing to turn this into a footie list, Lalas is quite a funny
guy. Before USA v. Iran in the World Cup he did a TV interview where some
hack asked him whether he thought there was anything else riding on the
game because of the political enmity between the two countries. Lalas
replied, absolutely straight-faced, that he thought it was the single most
important match in the history of the world, and that the fate of the known
universe depended on the outcome.

I laughed, anyway...
