and on the whole misheard lyric front, a little searching found this:

i can't even remember how many b&s lyrics i originally misunderstood (i 
think i've blocked it out of my memory due to embarrassment) but my 
favorite mishearing of all time was committed by my college roommate. 
she believed that the lyric of r.e.m.'s anti-suicide epic "everybody 
hurts," rather than "don't blow your hand," (weird poker analogy), went 
"don't blow your head off." so much for subtlety.
