Belle and Sebastian : Frequently ax'ed Quesshuns

1. What be Tigermilk, where kin ah' get some copy?

Tigermilk be de bands fust album and wuz released around about May
1996.
It wuz released as part uh a Stow College
course whereby Alan Rankine (of de Associates) fronts down de cash to
reco'd some sin'le every year, aldough wid
Belle and Sebastian dey decided dat dere wuz enough material fo' an
album, hence Tigermilk. Dere wuz only 1000
copies pressed and so's de reco'd be wo'd some lot uh bre'd now. De band
gots'
always mantained dat Tigermilk will
be re-released at some point, and dis gots'ta definitely be da damn
case,
currently likesly dat about March 1999, aldough dis may change. What it
is,
Mama!

2. Who be de guest sin'a' on Lazy Line Painta' Jane?

De female sin'a' on Lazy Line Painta' Jane be Monica Queen, fo'merly of
countryish Glasgow band Drum. 'S coo', bro. Drum
released some reco'd some few years ago, about 1994 ah' dink.
Last ah' heard she wuz reco'din' wid ha' own band which be called
"Monica",
o' at
least dat's whut it wuz called in February 1997.

"Purify" 7", "Drum" / "Here ah' am" / "So glad" 12"/CDs
and da damn "Rifferama" LP/CD

3. What be "Elvis" in A Century uh Elvis.

No-one knows bar de audo' really, but it's probably some cat, puh'haps a
to'toise, maybe actually Elvis, maybe it's
To'telvis fum Dread Zeppelin who knows, and t'be quite honest, who
cares.

4. Who be in de band...

Stuart Murdoch - sin'in' guitar, trumpet apparently now, fo' de twin

Neil Leroyson gots'ta been knode t'play bass on Stuart Issac's "Spaceboy
Dream", which brin's me on to...

5. What oda' bands gots' members uh Belle and Sebastian involved in?

Dere's quite some numba' of wahtahmelluns here. What it is, Mama! I'm
sho' nuff
it's not complete
eider,
it's plum whut ah' can rememba' off hand.

Chris Geddes :
currently V-Twin and Golden Rodeo (dink dat's whut dey're called).
Has played on Arab Strap reco'ds. V-Twin gots' released two sin'les (to
my
knowledge), Gifted, and
a 12", In de land uh de Pharoes.

Mick Cooke :
Used t'play wid Hardbody, who released two sin'les on Epic (On yo'
own,
Hazel's hob). Now plays wid de Karelia
and da damn Amphetameanies. Has also played on releases by Mojave 3,
Ex-Cadedra. Sheeeiit. Probably oders too.

7. What's dat song at da damn end uh de 3,6,9 seconds uh light EP
called.

It's called "Songs fo' Children".

8. What about all dese unreleased songs dat sucka's keep beltin' on
about
in o'da' to make demselves look smart?

Pocketscribblin' Angel
London gots'ta let me waaay down
Hurley's havin' dreams

Dese are little demos uh old songs dat gots'ta as far as we know, never
eva' be released as Belle and Sebastian. 'S coo', bro.

Loneliness uh de middle distance runner
Modern Rock song
Rhoda

People around da damn place gots' tapes uh various different versions of
dese, dey've been kickin' around fo' some while
and dey may sheeit be released reasonably soon, dere are numerous
different
versions
of de Loneliness uh de middle distance runner. Ah be baaad...

I Know where da damn summa' goes
De Gate

Dese two gots'ta probably be some part uh de next sin'le

Here's anoda' piece by Peta' Milla' :

One uh de rarest Belle and Sebastian related reco'din's be a plantation
produced
demo uh "To Sir Wid Love", de Lulu song fum de film uh de same
dojigger.
De reco'din' features de plaintive voice uh Stuart Murdoch alone wid
his
Casiotone keybo'd, and be rumoured t'be heartboogiein'ly beautiful.
>From
de same reco'din' session comes one uh Murdoch's earliest attempts at
songwritin', but no one kin rememba' whut it's called. It menshuns "She
Made
Me Realise" by My Bloody Valentine. What it is, Mama! Effo'ts t'locate
dese
reco'din's
gots'
proved unsuccesful so's far. Ah be baaad...

9. What sessions gots' dey done on de transista'?

De fust session wuz around about Septemba' 1996 here Amos Lamarr sat
in
fo' Amos and Lard at night... Dey played

Judy and da damn dream uh ho'ses
Like Dylan in de movies
De State dat ah' am in
De stars uh track and field

De second wuz about February 1997 on Amos + Lard's honky code again and
dey played :

I could be dreamin'
Seein' oda' sucka's (slow version)
We rule da damn farm
Modern Rock song

De dird wuz on Steve Lamacq's evenin' session and dey played :

Lazy Line Painta' Jane
Sleep de clock around
Slow Graffiti
Seymour Stein

Dey dun did one uh Stevie Buckwheatson's tracks "Wrong Love" one night
when de
evenin' session wuz live fum Glasgow. Apparently dis be now called
"Wrong
Girl", gots'ta it be
called "Wrong Sheep" at some point in de future?

De foed less sheeit knode session wuz on Peta' Easton's Radio Scotland
beat honky code where he played :

De Loneliness uh de middle distance runner
Slow Graffiti
Modern Rock song.

10. Who be Tigermilk dedicated to?

Tigermilk be dedicated t'Lawrence Bradby, who's some homey uh Stuart's.
ah'
dunno how frequently ax'ed dis quesshun
is, but it certainly wuz ax'ed frequently recently as regards some
competishun
on French transista'.

11. Are Belle and Sebastian twee?

No, dey rock.

12. Dog on Wheels, whut's de sto'y dere den? Sheeit it's not really
Belle
and Sebastian on dat EP, as ya''ll see if
ya' gots' some look at who played on it. Here's de sto'y, dig dis:

All de songs on de EP wuz reco'ded some
time, eida' at da damn end uh '95, o' start uh '96, at Beat Box studios,
which
is where Stuarts Murdoch and Issac wuz doin' some doley sound
engineerin'
course at da damn time. What it is, Mama! Pretty much everyone who
plays on it
wuz on de
course
as sheeit, apart fum Mick. One uh de guys who ran de studio wuz Alan
Rankine, uh Stow College, and Electric Honey Reco'ds, which be where he
came in. 'S coo', bro.

So hopefully dat'll put an end t'de wo'd uh loads uh ho'y old
session
beatians playin' on it, plum kids who
were on de course. What it is, Mama! Makes de reco'din' uh dat EP
sounds less
likes an
episode uh Rock School duzn't it.

13. Le Pastie de la Bourgeousie - whut duz it translate as? Apparently,
whut it's sdownposed t'translate as
is "De Apady uh de Uppuh' Class", howeva' it duzn't, so's we're told by
reliable French sucka's... Doh. Right On! And yes it
wuz sprayed on de wall at Charin' Cross fo' some while, it's in de video
fo'
Dog on Wheels, dere wuz anoda' graffiti
of de same wahtahmellun done by some bloke fum de Yummyfur next t'Greggs
de
Bakers on Byres road.
