I'm confused now 'cos somebody said
> As for ridicule, surely dragging people round the schoolyard by the
>loop thing on the top/back of the hood was much more fun.
and that's undermined my fundamental belief that the sole purpose of those
things was to attach the unfortunate soul to the metal bars on the back on the
bus seat, with hilarious results when it got to their stop.
I am amazed to find these things were multi purpose, perhaps somebody knows of
another use, (primitive adolescent Arab strap perhaps?)
As a shared love of Tom Waits seams to be involved in all the greatest of my
friendships, I am quite keen for the person who keeps mentioning him to get in
touch, I have a plan to have a tom waits fan friend on every continent.
