Sinister: help! list under strain

well, it probably isn't but i don't think we're not helping in any way
at the moment.

so we should try and show a bit more discipline (yes, this even includes
my lazy way of replying to messages).

so although it's in the list FAQ, i'd like to take a moment to remind
people of what they can do to help.

1- try and compile all your answers into one message

2- reply straight to the person who sent it and not the list if it's not
really relevant to the list

3- try to stay on topic and not waste messages by sending messages with
just a couple of useless words in them like, 'thanks for that' or 'i
agree'.

4- be humurous - i know there are different interpretations of the word
humour, but people forgive a lot of bad mails if they laugh VERY loudly.

5- don't re-quote whole messages, just a line is fine as long as it's in
context still.

anyhow, there you go, that may help get rid of a few messages or at
least make them a little more relevant to the wider audience.

a few things before i go, thanks paul for all your work, it's great to
see you've been credited on the sleeve (did anyone else notice?), cheers
for the work on the digests, which is causing hiccups but helping to
make them nicer.

i'm going to try and find a moment to create a page for newbies to b&s
on the official site - so if you're a newbie, please be patient and
we'll try and answer all your questions in time.
