Sinister: pear-shaped

...yes, it all went a bit pear-shaped for me on the picnic front yesterday.
After a night of frantic baking, I was too dozy and shy to randomly accost
likely-looking cute strangers amongst the throng outside Camden Town tube...
so I ended up wandering home, and taking my cake with me, untouched...

...sob.

...did everybody else manage to meet up ok though?... what did I miss?...

...luckily the Gentle Waves cheered my heart come the evening, bless 'em...
it was a sparkling and lovely show (hurrah!)...

...oh, by the way, I don't know if anybody's already made this observation
(apologies if I'm repeating this) but wasn't 'Kinky Love' originally a Nancy
Sinatra song (more recently covered by the Pale Saints - that's where I know
it from, anyway)?
