What is this????  I am actually in agreement with Mick McMick??????:) Next
thing you know they'll be re-releasing _Tigermilk_ on CD and selling it at
a reasonable price or something...sheesh

Yeah, I think people got swept up in tribute fever a few years ago, early
'90s onward. It started with the classic rock stuff (_Enconium_ for the
mighty Zep comes to mind) and then went to some interesting innovators
(_Invitation to Suicide_, _Where The Pyramid Meets The Eye_) and soon to
the ridiculous...

I am going to give a _Chasing Amy_ like review to the Felt and Galaxie 500
tribute albums (I hate to do so because I also thought I would loathe
_Amy_ before I saw it and I actually thought they handled it really
well...to those who haven't seen it but hate it already, let me assure
you, the guy does not win in the end)...they seem like such horrible
ideas.  Maybe the execution is better than I think, but these two bands
especially have such unique sounds and didn't write very conventional
songs as it was.  You can be funny and do a lounge version or a metal
version or something but what good is that.  Can't we just have a tribute
like Emo Phillips' tribute to Elvis ("Thanks, Elvis")?

So Mick, if your Field Mice list gets going, don't let a tribute tape idea
get started!  Give it the ol' Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25-year wait.

Elisabeth K. mentioned Marvin and Tamara...are these British kids?  Wow,
mini Marvin and Tammi--kind of scary.  I hope the new Marvin waits until
he's at least sixteen to enter the "Let's Get It On" territory...so who's
behind these teen sensations?  

I, being the perv that I am, thought the pastie of the bourgeoisie was the
pastie on the nipple that go-go dancers wear.  I don't know, some kind of
opiate of the masses that leads them to believe that they're not *really*
topless or nude....'cause they're wearing pasties.  So they feel like they
have some class and dignity or something.  I could be reading too far
into this...

The Clientele are amazing.  Definitely G500 ish but taking it to the next
level...songs!  Thanks to Christa (I'll write soon!) C. for introducing me
to the wonder of them.
