I must say hello to my good friend Todd who recently posted to the list for
his first time. He's quite a smart character and he left for university this
past week leaving my sorry arse to my own devices, which usually means
microwave pizza and Judge Judy. Sweet...hello anyhow.
I've fallen in love with Gus Gus this past week because some kind (idiotic?)
soul finally returned a copy of This Is Normal to my record store. Since
we're only allowed to listen to used CDs this was a Godsend of sorts. I
don't see how you can listen to it and not booty-dance with someone. If any
of my co-workers were good looking I wouldn't think twice, but as it is now...
I heard the Acid House soundtrack too. I like it very much, especially the
Beth Orton and Pastels songs. I thought the Oasis song was half decent
because it sounds nothing like them at all. They should do more of that...
I was reading the bios on the new B&S page and they raised a few questions:
#1 - Stevie says they didn't meet in an all-night cafe as legend has it.
Does anyone know how they really came to be? I know all the Stuart M&D demo
sessions and whatnot but I just wonder how Stevie and Co. got into the
picture.
#2 - Struan mentions returning film to the Evening Times. Is he moonlighting
as a photographer in his downtimes? If so I'd like to see some of his pics
'cause I bet they're quite good. Has anyone seen any other art Struan has
done?

I'm not much on the Who really but I watched a film of their live performaces
the other day and it was quite good. My favorite moment was when Pete's amp
literally blew up in the middle of a song and this huge cloud of black smoke
came pouring out of the back. I liked the song "Water" alot just because the
lyrics are pretty funny (especially the "somebody's daughter" part). They
played Sister Disco but I don't remember much about it for I was too drunk.
I can't wait for college basketball to start again. My local team, the
Maryland Terps, had one of the best teams in the country last year but blew
it in the playoffs. They lost their best player to the pro leagues this
winter but I still think they'll kick some arse.
Are the Beach Boys better than the Beatles? Sometimes I'm just not sure...
